Summary
Komar University of Science and Technology (KUST) in Sulaymaniyah  was founded and licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, according to the Kurdistan Region Government’s official letter No. 17867/7 on October 18, 2009.  KUST is a private university governed by a Board of Trustees and administered by its University Council. Its main campus is located in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in Kurdistan, Iraq. We are currently at an exciting stage of our development. We are looking forward to hiring a professional academic to join our community and contribute to the success and growth of the Department of Petroleum Engineering (PTE) and to the education and training of its students.

Department of Petroleum Engineering (PTE) is a relative young but growing department, which began registering students in fall 2012. Currently PTE offers an undergrad program which focuses mainly on upstream and specifically on reservoir, drilling and completion. The vision of PTE is to become the leading petroleum engineering education department in Kurdistan and Iraq according to international standards. Therefore, our department tries to provide a student-centered, high quality teaching and learning environment that promotes intellectual, personal, and professional development of students. PTE has special features to realize its expectations and to ensure the successful achievement of its objectives, so that it will eventually be accredited by ABET.

Starting Date: February 2017
Responsibilities:
1)      Teaching undergraduate courses in petroleum engineering, namely well Logging and formation evaluation, drilling and completion I and II, petroleum production I and II, and reservoir engineering and simulation,
2)      Designing assessment tools according to the university regulations,
3)      Participating in academic departmental development,
4)      Conducting research and publishing papers,
5)      Advising and supervising students projects, and,
6)      Proctoring during mid and final exams.

Requirements:
The Department of Petroleum Engineering is currently looking for two faculty members. The applicants should hold a PhD and all other academic degrees, Master and Bachelor, in petroleum engineering with having
a)      at least three years international teaching experience at university level in English language,
b)      experience in supervising students projects,
c)      experience in petroleum engineering curriculum development,
d)     experience in conducting research in any field of petroleum engineering, and publishing peer review journals,
e)      knowledge of petroleum engineering software, and,
f)       Three academic references.
