Dr. Salah requested the name “National University of Science and Technology” on August 2009. The Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Idris Hadi requested to choose a different name. Dr. Salah requested the name “Kurdistan University of Science and Technology”. The Council of Ministers of Kurdistan Regional Government approved the name on October 7th, 2009.

Dr. Idris Hadi Salif

Dr. Delawer Ala’deen, the new Minister of Higher Education informed Dr. Salah on May 14th, 2011, that the Ministry Council decided to change the name of the University. Therefore, Dr. Salah may go back to the original name “National University of Science and Technology” or choose a new name. Dr. Salah refused such order.
